Anwar would not rejoin UMNO

The Advisor to Parti Keadilan Rakyat(PKR) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) has once again reiterated that he would not rejoin UMNO.

He was responding to rumours that Abdullah will be using him to fend off possible challenges from Najib and those enjoyed the support of the former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

I for one strongly believe that DSAI would not rejoin UMNO because he has a duty and responsibility to build up PKR as a sound and viable opposition party, so that PKR can join forces with other opposition parties in the country to challenge the Barisan Nasional.

I also strongly believe that UMNO top leaders in general would not want DSAI to return to UMNO because such move could unseat their own positions in the party. Najib and companies know that none of them could confine DSAI the minute he is back to the party.

So it's not just the question of whether DSAI would want to return to UMNO. It also depends on whether those in power would allow him to be back.

Malaysians who were sick and tired of Barisan Nasional are counting on DSAI to play a pivotal role in uniting the opposition forces in the country to give BN a real challenge.

To save Malaysia, we need to change the government or at the least, deny the two-thirds majority of the ruling coalition in the Malaysian Parliament.

if we fail to do so in the coming general elections, it would take another ten to twenty years for such an opportunity.

For the same reason, DSAI cannot fail the people. As a new icon of democracy, he is in a good position to bring about great changes to Malaysia.

Malaysians must also give themselves and DSAI a chance to do it. For all Malaysians.
